The first two days of the GREAT SAND DUNES MASSACRE tour have been an absolute blast.
A big ol’ crowd of friends and readers (thank you!!) turned out for the launch at Maria’s Bookshop in Durango the night before last, with great stories from La Plata County Search and Rescue prez Ron Corkish and his merry band of volunteer rescuers, plus cool prizes for the kids of all ages who packed the shop.

Then, last night, Jillian, Hannah, and Cheyenne from Dolores Public Library, along with Chuck Greaves as my gracious interlocutor, put on a show for the ages.
The pics below tell the tale:
— a monster alligator chomping on a very unfortunate filmmaker’s arm
— bloody body parts strewn about the room
— 100% real sand dunes on the snack tables, with trail mix and graham-cracker–get it?–s’mores
— and, beyond amazing, custom-made cookies featuring the cover of GREAT SAND DUNES MASSACRE festooned with a tiny #10, the entry sign to Great Sand Dunes National Park, more monster alligators (because of course!), and even, gulp, my face for folks to chomp on.
As with all the Dolores Library crowds that so strongly support their riverside jewel of a library, last night’s was raucous and joyful and all parts fun, with my great appreciation.
(And if you’re wondering about the monster gator and bloody body parts, you’ll just have to grab a copy of GREAT SAND DUNES MASSACRE, book 10 in my deadly National Park Mystery Series with Torrey House Press to find out…)
Thank you all for celebrating books and storytelling with me and the dedicated folks at Torrey House…And the tour’s just getting started!
