I had a thoroughly wonderful evening at the Colorado Humanities & Center for the Book Colorado Book Awards gala at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Ellie Caulkins Opera House on Saturday.

Though I didn’t take home the Best Mystery prize for DEATH VALLEY DUEL, No. 9 in my National Park Mystery Series with Torrey House Press (Huge congrats to friend, terrific author, and winner Barbara Nickless, Author!), being a second-time finalist again this year was a tremendous honor.

The lead-up event on Thursday with equally terrific author and friend Bethany Turner, Author, hosted by the good folks at The Bookworm of Edwards — along with their always inquisitive attendees and always excellent hors d’oeuvres — was 100% fun.

Last but definitely not least, as a proud founding board member of Four Corners Writers, I was stoked to see FOUR CORNERS VOICES, the inaugural 4CW anthology, win the Colorado Book Award for Best Anthology, with Bethany offering a terrific acceptance speech. Congrats to the talented writers from around the region featured in the anthology, as well as editors Chuck Greaves, Mark Stevens, and Lisa C. Taylor, and the great cover by Jody Chapel, too. Woo hoo!
