Huge thanks to my hometown Maria’s Bookshop in Durango, Colorado, for hosting the wonderful launch celebration for DEATH VALLEY DUEL, No. 9 in my National Park Mystery Series, on July 8.

I have to say, of all nine celebrations Maria’s has so kindly hosted, this was the most fun yet, thanks to beloved Hardrock 100 ultra runner Maggie Guterl and executive director Dale Garland, who joined me on stage to share their tales of ultra trail running’s extreme highs (and equally extreme lows!)

To all hundred-plus of you who packed Maria’s for the event: THANK YOU. I am truly honored.

Big thanks as well to wonderful Amy’s Bookcase in Farmington and Ruby Sisson Memorial Library in Pagosa Springs for hosting the final two events of my Summer 2024 DEATH VALLEY DUEL tour this week, making for a boffo tour wrap-up.

I’m happy to report that, a month out from the official release of DEATH VALLEY DUEL, sales are booming (thanks to all of you!) and reviews have been stellar, including the highest-by-far online star rating yet for any of my mysteries.

Which prompts me to say: If you happen to find DEATH VALLEY DUEL–or any books by authors you appreciate–worthy of a five-star rating, you’ll be doing more good than you’ll ever know by taking a couple of minutes to post a short, one-sentence review online, on my behalf and that of my incredible environmental nonprofit publisher Torrey House Press, with my deepest gratitude.

Thanks again, everyone, for touring along with me this summer!
